SCHOLARSHIPS: Eric

All four scholarship recipients and their counselors have been notified. Eric will present the awards at the respective school programs and has invited the recipients and their families to the Summer Event on June 1st. He will also invite last year’s scholarship recipients and ask them to comment on their first collegiate year.

At Bruce’s request, the forced ranking documents were reviewed. No changes were considered.

CLINICS: Chris

Free clinics have been scheduled: Boot Ranch on 5/13, 5/27, 6/24; Lady Bird on 5/21, 6/4, 6/18. Other summer clinics may be scheduled depending on demand.

In an effort to identify juniors with sufficient skills and provide incentives to continue, Chris suggested using the US KIDS GOLF Pathway system. He is a certified instructor and has used the system with good results. Alex and the other PGA pros at Boot Ranch will complete the training as well. This program provides specific skills and objective metrics to document progression in 10 levels. Skill metrics are set forth in a booklet for each level. Incentives include different colored caps and cap pins to designate progression. Juniors through high school graduation enter and continue within the system at their demonstrated skill level. We have sufficient US Kids golf clubs but will likely need to replace grips for this 5-year-old equipment next year.

The local program will require a one-time charge of $50 per junior.

Motion made, seconded, and carried unanimously to adopt the US Kids Golf pathway system.

FUND RAISER TOURNAMENT: Jim

The tournament will be held Monday September 19 at Boot Ranch. We expect 90-100 golfers. This will be the fifth fund raiser tournament. Jim suggests a “wood anniversary” theme.

Jim will send emails to both sponsors and players in mid-July. Additional committee member support will be required to follow up with both groups.

Chris suggested using personalized engraved metal ball markers for this year’s player participation gift. He also suggesting adding Junior Golf Foundation personalized flags as a part of the sponsorship level program. Jim and Chris will modify the sponsorship levels and submit to the board next meeting.

This year’s Summer Event is Wednesday June 1st at Boot Ranch Pavilion. All previous donors, tournament sponsors & players, supporters, FMS & FHS Golf teams and their families are invited.
