NEW BUSINESS:

Mission Statement:

The Junior Golf Foundation of Fredericksburg is 501{c}3 non-profit tax-exempt volunteer organization established to introduce and encourage golf as a lifetime sport to all juniors in the Texas Hill Country. The Foundation provides Short Golf™ equipment and games for local primary and elementary schools to implement golf as part of the regular P.E. curriculum and clinics led by professionals who instruct juniors golf mechanics, strategy and rules. Juniors who want to become more proficient may participate on teams in supervised competition. During instruction and play, juniors learn life skills and values including integrity, respect, patience, discipline, and etiquette. To further incentivize girls and boys to play competitive golf, we established a college scholarship program for local high school graduates.

Mission

To support a sustainable junior golf program in the greater Fredericksburg area that enables girls and boys high school golf teams win state championships.

Vision

To create an excellent junior golf program that engages the entire community.

To remove cost barriers so all juniors have the opportunity to learn and play the game of golf.

To integrate our junior program within local elementary, middle and high schools.

FULL TIME GOLF COACH FHS:

Jim, Leonard and Marc met with the new AD (Wendy Dietrich) and she applauded our efforts and indicated she would assist us any way she could. We expressed our desire to support and enable a golf program similar to the tennis program.

CLINICS:

Chris said he would schedule a meeting with Jim, Alex and Jason to discuss the clinic curriculum (beginner and skilled) and publish a schedule for April through June. e also suggested the curriculum should be based on US KIDS Player Pathway program since we are already using their equipment and their 10 step program is the best.

SCHOLARSHIPS:

Eric was absent but Jim said the application documents have been updated and distributed to all the schools.

FUNDRAISING

Fund raising for tournament must start early because of supply chain issues. The Spring Donation Drive is scheduled for June 1st at the Boot Ranch Pool. The 5th Annual Golf tournament is scheduled for September 19 at Boot Ranch. This will be a special event as it is our 5th year. We discussed raising the entry fee to off-set the cost for an improved player gift (golf shoe vs t-shirt). More discussions to follow. “Save the Date” emails for the Spring Donation Drive and Tournament will be crafted and sent in the next few weeks.

WEBSITE

Meeting minutes and golf team results have been posted regularly to the website.
